OK, I know a few of you out there have fairy gardens and such... I have no such thing...
I have little garden Bobs...
I can't really pinpoint the origin of garden Bob... I know that when I was a kid, I used to name everything Bob.
I outgrew that, I have a pug dog named MoonPie and two black cats named Phennig and Charcoal Briquette Cat, so my naming has definitely moved beyond Bob, but as soon as I could handle a pocket knife, I, for some reason, have been carving heads on the end of sticks...
Mom and my sister used to take them and make little folk dolls out of them. They don't anymore, so whenever I get a small limb, or a broken broomstick or something, I carve a little head, name him Bob, and stick him in one of my flower pots... The bigger ones make decent plant stakes and the small ones scare away the slugs. Or I tell myself they scare away slugs. I really have no idea of their real purpose. It's just something I do.
They vary, this is one of the simpler ones, just a nice strong nose, brow and lantern jaw. There's a few around that look like skulls, and some that are a little more expressive...
For some reason, I thought someone out there might be interested...
I would love to see your whole collection!!! He's really neat...I'm sure you could sell these...I would buy one! Everyone needs a few Bobs!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty cute! I will buy a few!! I need one that scares off scorpions!
ReplyDeleteI need mine to watch over my lizards!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad y'all like Bob, but I don't think I'll be going into any sort of production any time soon... quite frankly, I have no time to whittle...
ReplyDeleteI like these kinds of things. Fairies are just too precious for me; garden gnomes just don't fit a desert garden, but your Bobs would fit right in!
