Black crepe myrtles

A  few months ago, i took a a small cutting from a friends 'black diamond' crepe myrtle.  They're fairly new hybrids, and very pricey at the moment.
It's rooted good, and I'm thinking about finding it a home, but when i was checking it today, I found three tiny little flower buds.   Can't see them too well in the pic, but they're there.

  1. I wonder what color the blossoms will be? I can imagine that tree would be very dramatic looking in the landscape.

    1. The Black Diamond longer of hybrids has three variations, white, pink, & red. If I remember correctly, this is the red(although I think I'd prefer the white. Supposedly they can grow about 8 to 10 feet tall, so mid size for a crepe myrtle.

  3. Very cool. I don't like crepe myrtles, but I'm even smitten with the black varieties.
