Cotton candy update...

So... I'm still working the job.  My first day there was confusing... the all said they really needed a new employee because they were getting more orders,  but my coworkers weren't too friendly at all... but, I was there to do a job so I got on with learning it.
Is tougher than you'd think.
Third is cotton candy that you buy bagged in stores, occasionally at fairs or other attractions... but getting it from the spinner into the bag is not the easiest thing you can do.  The first few tries resulted in a clumsy mess today went to waste, and it was frustrating as hell.

Finally I got the Knack of handling it without actually handling it.  Kind of.  Not really.

On off my coworkers produces lovely bags of frothy sweetness... she's the cotton candy queen.  I dislike her on principle.  My bags, after that first day didn't look like childhood clouds as really vicious thunderheads preparing to attack Kansas in hopes of transporting some unsuspecting moppet to Oz.
So I showed up the next day... and the co-workers gave each other confused glances.

Turns out that they hadn't been friendly because they didn't know why they should bother.  You see... usually when a white boy takes the job, he leaves for lunch and doesn't bother to cone back.

Its like this... you know how certain politicians are always giving dramatic speeches about how Mexican immigrants are taking all our jobs?  Actually, there taking jobs that the Americans don't want.  This job is one of them.  turns out they had gone thru about 4 guys in the past month.  And these were guys from the state employment odfice... people we ho supposedly really needed the job...

The Cotton Candy Queen literally looked at me with utter confusion and asked... "you LIKE this job?" As if the concept was beyond her.

To which I replied... "it's a job."

Which she understood implicitly.

She's actually become quite friendly,  and I no longer dislike her on principle.

And heres a photo of my handiwork.

Impressive,  huh?

There are a couple of good stories coming up... trying to figure out how to write them out.

  1. Those bags look lovely! You are doing great! Employees can be downright hateful when you start a new job, but I found out if you can stick it out long enough, they will come around, or, if they don't...just tolerate them! Bitches!
